The new DC Speculation List
- Posted by Matthew Meylikhov on Wednesday, November 04, 2009

So, now that Wednesday is upon us and we've all picked up our various Wednesday comics, have you perused the back of your latest DC book? Notice the new list of speculation? DC always does huge posts lists in their DC Nation page that is supposed to titillate us for the future to come. Why don't you join in with us as we guess what it all means?
- Beware the one-armed man! - I'm at a loss on this one. Even a quick Google search shows there are no one armed DC villains that are still in use (I found a guy called the Flaming Hand but he apparently has not been used for quite some time). So who is the one-armed man? Is it someone who is going to lose their arm? Or do I just not know as much as I pretend I do?
- Red Robin was right... - Bruce Wayne is alive. Did someone not read the last page of Final Crisis?
- Remember that thing about Mars - Mars instantly makes us think of the Martian Manhunter. But what specifically? How about where is the rest of his species?
- Check list of inmates - I'm guessing a reference to Arkham Asylum, which we currently have a mini for
- Make sure to tell everybody that Lobo: Highway to Hell by Scott Ian & Sam Kieth comes out 11/4! - No idea.
- Kill Lady Blackhawk - Click. Speculate.
- Buy coffee - Probably means he needs to buy coffee.
- Check on proper usage of umlauts - an umlaut is a type of sound shift in a spoken language. More specifically, German. I believe it's fair enough to make assumptions that this is in reference to some character with German heritage either returning or getting a spotlight.
- Talk to Dan about "crazy" idea he has for Outsiders - Seems self explanatory, but I guess we'll have to wait and see
- Set line-up for fantasy football team - Looks like someone plays fantasy football
- Call back mystery writer from LA - A new writer for DC? From LA? Hmm.
- Call Azz to tell him how awesome I think future plans for Doc Savage and Batman are - Azz is a reference to Brian Azzarello, if the rest of the sentence wasn't obvious enough
- Finish Wild Dog pitch - Click. Speculate.
- Call Chi from payphone and ask if he has any ideas about Wednesday Comics II, then laugh and hang up - Either this means there WILL be another Wednesday Comics mini or their won't. I can't tell how serious it is. I do know it sold well so it wouldn't be a major surprise if they did more.

Whi;s the Teen Titan who got his arm ripped off Superman Prime in Infinite Crisis, then later joined Titans East? I'm going to think it's about him.
Either that, or they're going to Vegas.
Wow, *Who's. Good lord.
You're talking about Risk. Only problem is.. his other arm was ripped off in the Sinestro Corps War.
Wow, I don't even remember him being in The Sinestro Corps War.
I guess he's just a forgettable character.
Superboy Prime provided a few missing arm characters during Infinite Crisis. Poor risk Geoff Johns has really fucked with him hahaha. Oh well...not a huge fan of Risk anyway.
OK, how about this. Maybe it's not a villain. Oliver Queen was missing an arm in DKR, though......
I saw the Ollie theory on another site, but let's be real here. Oliver Queen as a super threat to DC? Yeah. I don't think so. Talk about improbable. The man doesn't even have powers. What's he gonna do, pull a Parallax on us? Besides, if Ollie only had one arm, he'd be kinda useless.
That thing about Mars? It might be unrelated, but if Johns is as solid on following up with minor bits other writers have dropped, I think Kyle might somehow play a part in ressurected J'onn. In DC One Million, when Kyle was on Mars, Mars-J'onn said something about Kyle saving him when all hope seemed lost.
Unless that all hoped seemed lost moment already happened.
Good call Waltorr. I like that idea. Man, who ever saw DC 1,000,000 possibly playing into regular continuity eventually. Here's hoping they revisit Hitman 1,000,000.
The LA writer is Janet Evanovich who does the number Mysteries... she's signed on to do a Dark Horse series. Mostly likely outside the DC continuity.
With the new issue of GLC out, I would guess the Kyle theory is out at this point, but who knows.
Slipknot, a hanging themed villain, now only has one arm, but like Ollie... he's no real threat it seems.
The Red Robin line I think deals with the current storyline dealing with him becoming Ra's Al Ghul's new apprentice, and less about the obvious Batman reference.
