Someone is a Secret Avenger

So whose silhouette is gracing this poster? Not sure exactly who it is, but it looks to be Spider-man.
Today over at Marvel.com they posted a teaser poster for the Secret Avengers. This, to my knowledge, was a previously unannounced title and team. It will be written by Ed Brubaker and features art by Mike Deodato. It's now apparent that Marvel is not just sticking to one Avengers title and this is probably for the best. In the past 5 or so years Marvel has introduced more characters to the Avengers line-up and it would be a shame to see them go to waste.
This is one of the first Avengers books outside of the All Ages line and Mighty Avengers to feature a writer other than Bendis on the title. As for the rest of the line-up, my money is that Steve Rogers will be on the team and with Brubaker as the writer I wouldn't have it any other way.

Sweet! A tease that doesn't spoil anything! That's how you do it, Marvel.
The Secret Avengers were the team Cap ran during Civil War, so I'd imagine Steve has something to do with it. Especially with Brubaker on the title. With that in mind, I'm buying.
If I was a betting man, I'd put all of my money in against Steve being on the Secret Avengers. Steve met with the President, he's maybe the most recognizable person in the Marvel world, and the President had an offer of a job for him. Unless he's going to dress up like Ronin and cover his body head to toe, I don't see it happening. I don't know what he's going to end up doing, I just don't think he'll be involved with this team.
Love that Brubaker/Deodato are working on a book together. That's going to be great.
Well, with Brubaker as the writer of both Cap: Reborn and this, I'd imagine that they are somewhat connected. We don't know to what capacity the Avengers will exist in the post-Siege world (if they're still their own nation or whatever), how big the SHRA will be prevalent, etc. I'd imagine that perhaps the President could have offered Rogers a position as the leader of a covert group of Avengers? You've got Bucky off in his Cap costume with the Avengers people see on TV, and then you've got Steve and a group of other heroes doing off the books missions to protect the world.
Just a theory.
It's Foggy Nelson.
This has be suitable intrigued and excited.
The only things that has me thinking Steve will be on this team is 1) It's written by Brubaker 2) Steve is not on the main Avengers team and makes me wonder why. Still the fact it's called the Secret Avengers puzzles me. What are they hiding from? Maybe it is a covert team designed to work internationally? If that's the case would Steve be in his Captain uniform or what? I bet we'll find out in April when Siege ends.
The more I think about it, the less I think it's Spider-Man. The quote is definitely a clue, and it's not a "Spidey" quote. It actually reminds of say...Hank Pym.
Even the body doesn't look like Deodato's version of the wall crawler, or even JRJR's interpretation.
im positive its Gorilla-Man from Agents of Atlas
I like Anonymous man's theory. Actually, think of the Heroic Age poster. Gorilla Man, Beast, Black Widow...those all could be Secret Avengers types. The Thing definitely not, but perhaps Spidey will be in there too. Intriguing.
Gorilla Man would fit the pose. It's that pose that intrigues me. Not too many characters in Marvel do that pose.
One speculation I've read is venom. Yeah, I don't like that one.
For a moment I thought Venom. The build and pose fit to a T. But unless it's Anti-Venom, it ain't happenin'. And even that's the longest of longshots.
It's the hands that throw me off and lead me to believe it's not Gorilla Man. To be honest, it looks like the poses that Deodato draws Venom in in Dark Avengers, which is why I'd think it would be Spidey. Plus, Spidey was on the first Heroic Age promo. It looks a little small to be Gorilla Man and too awkward to be good ol' Hank Pym. That seems like a nice Spidey pose.
But I am definitely leaning towards the covert ops team type thing.
If they made a team of Secret Avengers who are black ops Anti-Venom actually would be awesome. I'm sure it's not though.
I really don't think it's Spidey though cause he's just too big.
The Gorilla from Agents of Atlas would be perfect though! Great call!
That Narrows my list down to Beast, Venom and Gorilla-Man.
I hope its Gorilla-Man though.
I think its VENOM OR ANTIVENOM, but look his right wrist, like a bracelet, spiderman with a new suit? or maybe is black panter.
I don't see a bracelet... it seriously is in a "classic Deodato" Spidey pose though. I'm betting fully on him. As they (I) say in Vegas, put it all on black!
...well, ok, in this case, put it all on Spidey.
You guys get what I'm saying.
I think it'd be swell, however unlikely, that it'd be a new venom, maybe with some kinda control over the suit. Get Gargan outta the suit already!
I'm 100% sure now. It's Beast. The pose, body type, and quote all fit to a T.
