Amazon Selling Select Marvel Omnibuses For $15 UNDER 10 DOLLARS
- Posted by Matthew Meylikhov on Sunday, March 07, 2010

UPDATE UPDATE: The sale is now over. It was a glitch, and Amazon caught on. The way I understand it, if your order was processed, you'll get it. Otherwise, you should hold your breath and cross your fingers because you might just get an e-mail telling you you didn't need to buy all those new shelves.
UPDATE: The price has now dropped from $15 to under $10! We're talking, literally, $8.24 for some of the most expensive comics to date! All the ones I listed below are great additions to any collection, and if $15 was too much, I can't imagine that $8.24 will be. Aside from the price change, all the information below is still relevant, and you should really get on this.
Yes, you read that right. In an absolutely amazing move, Amazon.com has dropped prices on a large number of their Marvel Omnibus inventory to just a mere $15. That's an $85 value, and if you've ever wanted to grab an omnibus, now would be the time! Not only that, but a random few other normally expensive titles have dropped down to this nice price, such as the complete Criminal hardcover and The Complete BONE Epic. Hot diggity!
Here is the full list of titles down to $14.99:
- Golden Age Marvel Comics Omnibus Volume 1
- The Death Of Captain America Omnibus
- The X-Men Omnibus Vol. 1
- Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis & Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 2
- Daredevil by Ed Brubaker Omnibus, Vol. 1
- The Ultimates Omnibus
- Invincible Iron Man Omnibus, Vol. 1
- Secret Wars Omnibus
- Wolverine Omnibus, Vol. 1
- Fantastic Four Omnibus, Vol. 1
- The Incredible Hulk Omnibus, Vol. 1
- Secret Wars II Omnibus
- Iron Man Omnibus, Vol. 1
- Howard The Duck Omnibus
- Tomb Of Dracula Omnibus Volume 1
Might I recommend the Ultimates and Invincible Iron Man Omnibus for those looking to get into good recent comics? Of course, The X-Men and Fantastic Four omnibuses are also a great idea.
Act now, because this is most DEFINITELY not going to last!

Also, the Thor hardcover with all of JMS' run is up at $15 for preorder, and they have to give it to you for whatever you preordered it for.
There's also Criminal Deluxe Edition 1 and Powers HC Vol 1 & 2 and now Invincible Collection 1-3
Aside from the fact that I have no money and therefore shouldn't be buying any of it, I'm always a bit concerned with these omninbi that a big chunk of the art and dialog will get lost in the gutters of the book, or whatever the center part is called. I feel like those oversized hardcovers (usually collecting about 12 issues or two trades) were more like the right size (and even then, you lose more than you do with a poorer-value, shorter trade/HC), and the omnibi are pushing it a bit. Can anyone tell me otherwise?
From what I hear, Marvel's omnibuses tend to be bound in a way that avoids things getting lost in the middle. That's just what I've heard though.
I have two Marvel Omnibuses/Omnibi and I've never had a problem with 'em. I've honestly had trouble with regular trades in that regard, Carl, more so than my large hardcovers.
If Amazon did break, rather than it being just a sweet sale, why couldn't it have affected DC books as well?
@Walter et al there's also a SlickDeals.net page about this and there's also books that are $15. Some are for pre-order like JMS's THOR, some Deadpool books, and other publishers. There's also Walking Dead 1-3. But a bigger part of me, with what most of these books being Marvel/Disney books is that Amazon isn't dumping but preparing for when these book equivalents hit the iPad, the iBookstore, and/or prolly the Kindle store. But man, such a great deal!
Thanks for the info! I've had my eye on the Iron Man book for a while, and you can't go wrong with anything by Brubaker.
@Kello a bit of fair warning about the Criminal HC, I flipped through it before at a store and it doesn't include the cool backups that were in the single issues and I think some stories from the second run aren't in the book, which I'm guessing will go into the eventual second HC.
i picked up the Ultimates Omni, The Bendis Daredevil Vol. 2 Omni, the Brubaker Daredevil Vol. 1 Omni, the Brubaker Death of Cap Omni, and the Invincible Iron Man vol. 1 Omni, with free shipping, all for the kingly sum of $41.20. i'll probably keep the Ultimates, and Bendis Daredevil vol. 2 books, but the others i am definitely planning to flip in a few weeks. i'll probably hold onto the Iron Man one until the movie comes out.
it's odd, i realized yesterday that Louis CK was going to be performing in my town, but that tickets for myself and my gf would run like $90. i said "dammit! i need a get cash quick scheme!" now today, this happens. ask and ye shall receive.
Okay, well at this price I obviously had to get in on it, however by 11 AM pacific (when I was, well, awake), some of the deals are already being taken down, namely Death of Cap, Fraction's Iron Man, and Brubaker's Daredevil. I went with Lee/Kirby F4 and Bendis Daredevil V2, and got to free shipping with an un-discounted trade. Am curious to see whether it's honored at all.
Found that a lot of the pricier trades and HCs were around 50% off as well...ended up with Morrison's Marvel Boy, Letham's Omega the Unknown and FF and X-Men Omni's all for the delectable price of 46.50.
Lets see if it'll go through...
Also, PJ? Don't be a dick...and seriously? Louis CK???
Bone and Ultimates..woo!
I wish I had gotten the Iron Man one though.
There's some good buys here.

SPAM ALERT!
Josh, you should have just burned that money instead. I HATED Lethem and Dalrymple's Omega the Unknown. I heard it reads better collected, but in issue form it is a non-sensical mess that is a challenging read in the worst way possible.
To be fair, I mostly got it so that I can actually say, for once, that I actually GOT a book in trade that I SAID I would while it was coming out.
And lets be honest here, they're gonna cancel the order...I can smell it.
I dunno, I called Amazon and was told they will be shipping it. Though I'm still a bit anxious.
I still think they're going to cancel it, but we'll see. Did they ever actually fix it? What a crazy thing...how did this even happen?
But yeah, good work Mocle. Way to buy!
I AM the ultimate Jew, David.
It seems the most consistent report on emails from Amazon is that they are honoring the prices, but reducing the quantity to one if you ordered multiples of a single product. I'm still not completely trusting this until I have my omnibuses in hand, but it seems like a lot of people are reporting the same thing.
