Pete Woods Leaps Into "Action"
- Posted by David Harper on Thursday, March 11, 2010

Well, it looks like he's returning to an old haunt, as he and writer Marc Guggenheim will be working together as the new Action Comics team. Better yet they will now be joined by cover artist du jour David Finch, whose debut Action cover is above. While I think this all sounds like good news, let's see what resident Superfan Gil thinks later on.

if someone told me 2 years ago that i was eventually going to be WAY more excited about upcoming events in the Superman titles than i would be about upcoming events in the Batman titles, i absolutely would not have believed it.
JMS on Superman, and Guggenheim/Woods on Action? that's a winning setup right there.
honestly, i've kind of had enough of Morrison's Batman, and without having read a word of it, this Return of Bruce Wayne bullshit just feels tired already.
will 2010 be the year i finally start giving a shit about in continuity Superman stories?
I know, it's a little surprising. I was thinking about it, but my DC Universe purchasing has went through the floor lately. I actually only bought two DCU books vs. four Vertigo/Wildstorm books vs. probably eight or nine Marvel books yesterday. DC has kinda went in the tank for me lately outside of Vertigo/Wildstorm.
I think Guggenheim COULD be good. He's a bit hit or miss for me. I like Woods a lot and I think JMS obviously could be amazing on Superman. It does appear that in a lot of ways Supes is taking the lead over Batman, especially with JH Williams III off Detective (as much as I like Jock, he is no JH Williams III).
