Guardians of the Galaxy is coming August 1, and July is going to be a celebration of all things Guardians AND a special benefit art month for Bill Mantlo here at Multiversity. All month, we’ll be posting Guardians-related pieces created by some of our favorite artists, and at the end of the month there will be an auction of many of the pieces of original art to help the man who created Rocket Raccoon, Bill Mantlo. It’s going to be an exciting month, but you can help Bill even if you don’t bid on any art. Read more about Bill and his story here, and if you feel moved to donate to Bill yourself, you can do so by clicking here.

Today, we are taking a break from the great Guardians characters, to show off a couple of pieces from one of Bill Mantlo’s other creations – Rom, Space Knight!

Josh Bayer is an artist and an educator, currently teaching comics and fine art at various locations in New York City. He is about to release “Theth,” the first book for Retrofit Books (run by friend of the site Box Brown) to have a spine. He is also the editor of “Suspect Device,” an anthology that…well, you really have to see it to understand. You can check out his website, his Tumblr, his blog, and follow him on Twitter (@MrJoshBayer).

Josh didn’t just do one piece, but a triptych of Rom pieces, all of which will be auctioned off to benefit Bill Mantlo later this summer. Stay tuned for auction information!

If you are a professional artist interested in donating a piece for the auction, please email brian@multiversitycomics.com or david@multiversitycomics.com for more details.
