This week on Boomb Tube, Drake Bell Spider-Man swings his way onto Hulk and the Agents of SMASH while Terra infilitrates the Teen Titans! Go on and read more below.

This week on Hulk and the Agents of SMASH, the team held poker night with guests The Thing and Spider-Man. Maybe this is a reflection on the state of Marvel rather than a slight on SMASH, but if the Agents of SMASH were ever in comics continuity, I doubt they would ever do that. This show is so ridiculously benign for something starring a team of five Hulks. Another enjoyable aspect of the cartoon is how since The Hulk has maybe three villains total, and one of them is on the team, the creators really have to stretch with the show’s nemeses. That’s why this episode’s enemy is, of all the Marvel characters, The Collector. I really hope this trend continues until Hulk fights The Living Tribunal. The Collector collects every hero on Earth (duh) but not Spider-Man and The Hulk. The reason why turns out to be that The Daily Bugle’s signals go out into space and J. Jonah Jameson’s rants have convinced The Collector that Spider-Man and The Hulk aren’t heroes; they’re menaces. That is genuinely incredible.

Hulk and Spider-Man go around The Collector’s station trying to free their teammates and Earth’s heroes. Hulk does a lot of video confessionals about how Spider-Man’s a real good kid even though he gets labeled as a menace a lot. I sort of respect the writers trying to make the show about Hulk trying to overcome his status as a monster but holy moley, having him as everyone’s wise dad isn’t nearly as compelling as him struggling with it. Yeah, Mark Ruffalo in Avengers showed a Bruce Banner who was in control of his powers, but he wasn’t Alan Alda. Because Marvel didn’t hire me to cast that film. Anyway, Hulk and Spidey free the Agents of SMASH and fight The Collector who is preparing to bomb the Earth so he’ll be in possession of the only living humans. After Seth Green A-Bomb learns some new powers, A-Bomb gaining abilities out of nowhere is sure to be this show’s deus ex machina, he destroys the dropping bay for the bomb. Spider-Man beats The Collector by mumbling something about how a hero is on the inside, and then She-Hulk beams them all out. Before they escape though, The Collector vows to come back to collect the Agents of SMASH, since they’ve proven themselves to be the real heroes. Not exactly the best idea since SMASH’s popularity will be a lot shorter than say, a Punisher 2099, but hey he might get a few bucks at Asbury Park Comic-Con or something.

Review Score: 6.1 – A pretty boring episode, but the idea that Jameson’s rants saved the world is amazing.

Over on Teen Titans Go!, Beast Boy brought over his new girlfriend Terra which excites everyone except Raven who read Judas Contract and already saw season two of the original Teen Titans. Terra is obviously trying to hack into the Titans’ intelligence system but the Go! Titans are mischievously incompetent and so we’re treated to eleven minutes of Cyborg teasing Raven for hating Terra since they assume she has a crush on Beast Boy. It’s honestly pretty amusing. Eventually, Terra turns on the Titans, which they think is so adorable because everyone on this show is an idiot except Raven who casts Terra into a portal into a demonic nightmare dimension. Harsh. Beast Boy acts sad and then gets over it since this isn’t the original series and we’re not getting three more seasons of traumatized Beast Boy. Then Raven smiles a bit when Cyborg suggests she’s still got a crush on Beast Boy. It’s adorable.

Review Score: 6.8 – Teen Titans Go! may not be great television, but it’s fairly amusing.
