Tuesday marks the end of an era, with the release of “Take Us Back,” the fourth and final episode of Telltale and Skybound Games’ The Walking Dead: The Final Season, which also became Telltale’s final video game after they unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy last year.
Much has been written on how Telltale’s first Walking Dead adaptation revitalized adventure games in 2012, with its story-driven gameplay that forced players to make tough decisions, a formula carried over to subsequent games based on comics like “Fables,” “Batman,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” as well as non-comics properties like Game of Thrones. However, comic book video games were always a huge part of Telltale’s DNA: their very first adventure game, released in 2005, was Bone: Out from Boneville, based on Jeff Smith’s “Bone,” and they subsequently developed three games starring Steve Purcell’s “Sam & Max.”
With all of those in mind, we want to know which Telltale adaptation was your favorite? (Did you start reading any of the source material because of them?) Vote in the poll below, and be sure to tell us in the comments.
