Welcome back to Boomb Tube! Here, we will be catching you up on the week in comics TV, both through micro-reviews, as well as links to our full-length TV reviews. We also tend to review series that are dropped all at once weekly so there are a few ‘older’ shows mixed in for good measure. Are we missing your favorite show? Let us know in the comments!

Gen V – “First Day” (S1E2, Amazon Prime)
It’s a hell of a first day for Marie Moreau as she not only is dealing with the Golden Boy suicide she was witness to but is thrown into the top ten ranked in the school. Andre gets to be number one, and though he’s not new to the spotlight because of his upbringing with Polarity (played by Sean Patrick Thomas), he can’t help but be haunted by Luke’s final words, “Your Dad has it.” The words seep into Andre’s psyche, and he tries to get Marie to help him figure out what it could mean, but she has zero interest in helping him out, and she’s not wrong to have that mindset. She’s on a full-ride scholarship and just trying to get through college without making much noise, and after going out with Andre and his crew, she nearly got expelled since everyone else was coked out.
Now, the moral dilemma comes in as she prepares for a national interview to discuss the event on whether she will mention Jordan Li’s involvement and how they were the one to stand up against Luke. They give a moment of vulnerability to Marie in explaining why they want to be mentioned, and Professor Brink was the only faculty member who only cared about their performance and not the fact they were nonbinary. When the interview finally comes around and Marie is ready, to tell the truth, the reporter mentions Annabeth, Marie’s sister, and that she had no comment on the Golden Boy situation and wants nothing to do with her. It throws Marie’s concentration off; she goes script-mode and takes all the credit.
As for The Wood investigation, Andre is hard on the case when he realizes the meaning behind Luke’s final words. “Your Dad has it” was a reference to a statue on campus of his father with a phone hidden inside. On the phone was a final recording that Luke made before his attack on Professor Brink, explaining that he and his brother were experimented on and Sam was still being held captive somewhere on campus. Brink was in on it, and Luke would get answers one way or another. Andre uses this information to get into Brink’s office and hack into his laptop, and once he finds the captives’ files, he sees the picture of Sam and realizes it was the supe that was “tweaking on meth,” according to campus P.D. He attempts to follow the officers once they confiscate the laptop and files but ends up fighting them before Cate comes in the final minutes of the episode to help him. – Alexander Manzo
