With this week’s news of The Man Who Fell to Earth getting an OGN adaptation, it got us thinking about what other David Bowie films deserve the comics treatment.
Now, Bowie is, obviously, best known as a musician, but he did a fair amount of acting in his life, and in a variety of different genres. He starred in period pieces (“Just a Gigolo”), horror (“The Hunger”), family fare (“Labyrinth”), as well as had some small, but vital roles in prestige films (“Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,” “The Last Temptation of Christ”). But more than anything else, a lot of his films have a distinct visual flare. Very few Bowie vehicles look like your average cinema from the time. Even the more forgettable films have a real distinct look to them, and many of them would make excellent comics because of it.
Now, we are counting films that were theatrically released, had Bowie listed above 8th in the cast, and isn’t a cameo appearance playing himself. If we were doing cameos or TV stuff, Extras or Zoolander would’ve won in a heartbeat.
Also, we know there were Labyrinth comics, but who wouldn’t want more?
So, vote in the poll today, watch a few of these films over the weekend, and check back for the results on Monday!
