This week saw the release of “Dark Nights: Death Metal” #1, the first issue of Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion, and FCO Plascencia’s ‘anti-crisis’ event. They may call it an anti-crisis, but this sits alongside the biggest events in DC Comics history which, since “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” have been referred to as crises.
A few years ago, in the pages of “Action Comics,” Brian Michael Bendis ‘officially’ named the seven crises in DC continuity. That doesn’t mean that things like “Identity Crisis” or “Heroes in Crisis” are not in continuity (though wouldn’t that be great?), but it just means that these seven stories are the cornerstones of the large scale events that shaped the continuity of DC. They were listed a little bit of a pretentious way, but here they are: “The Infinite Earth Crisis,” “The Crisis in Time,” “The Infinite Crisis,” “The Final Crisis,” “The Flashpoint Crisis,” “The Convergence Crisis,” and “The Dark Multiverse Crisis.”
Now, I think when all is said and done, “Dark Nights: Death Metal” will be considered part of the “Dark Multiverse Crisis,” but let’s leave that off for now. Based on the already released material, which is your favorite of DC’s red skies events? Vote in our Reader Poll, and check back on Monday for the results.
