This week marks the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who (which premiered November 23, 1963), the seminal British science fiction series that’s given the world so many iconic characters, creatures, and concepts, including the Doctor, the mysterious alien hero who (no pun intended) constantly wanders across time and space, righting wrongs, guiding companions, and always eventually giving their life to do so. Thanks to the idea of regeneration, they’ve been portrayed by (and in print as) numerous distinct actors – moreso than any American superhero, anyone can be the Doctor.
With all that in mind: who comes to mind when you think of Doctor Who? For many, it was probably Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor, who still has the longest uninterrupted run as the Time Lord (1974-1981), but Tenth Doctor David Tennant might have him beat now in the popular consciousness, especially with his return as the Fourteenth in the anniversary specials kicking off this weekend. So don’t forget to vote below, to never be cruel or cowardly, that there’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes, and to check back on Monday for the results. Allons-y!
