The comics world was delivered a terrible blow earlier this week, as we learned of the passing of John Paul Leon. Leon, only 49 years old, had been battling cancer for some time, and his loss has reverberated throughout the industry. Leon’s friend, Tommy Lee Edwards, set up a GoFundMe to help pay for a memorial service and also help with his daughter’s education and it has been heartening to see how many people are willing to help out. By all accounts, Leon was a good guy, and he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He will also be missed by the thousands of fans who never met him, except through his artwork. And so today, we want to know: what was your favorite of his comic works? We polled our staff for their favorites of his, running from the short (his piece in the “Batman Incorporated Special”) to epic (“Earth X”), and everything in between.
This is also a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with some of his work that may not already be known to you; I know I’m going to check out a few of the Marvel books I was unaware of before his passing.
So, vote in our Reader Poll, and check back on Monday for the results. Rest in Peace, JPL.
