Today sees wide release of Avengers: Endgame, and we’re not going to talk about it here. (But, you can read our spoiler-free review here) But watching the film got me thinking: if you could only carve out one of the franchises of the MCU, which would you choose? Which subset features the best films?
Now, obviously, there are a few caveats here. Some of the best MCU films are the most recent ones, and so I personally think that, if asked this question ten years from now, the Black Panther and Spidey films will be my answer. But those each have just one film thus far, so they don’t count. Ditto Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and the Hulk. Add to that the fact that the Avengers films contain (most) of these characters leads those to be the obvious choice. But, are those the best because of their scale, or because they are the best films? We’re trying to get to what franchise made the best films.
To me, of the options given, there’s a fairly obvious choice, but I’m not voting. You are! So, cast your lot and then let us know in the comments why you made that choice!
