Reader Poll: Is Marvel Returning to “Classic” Numbering a Good Thing?

This week, “Venom” #150 was released, and it marks the first of Marvel’s returning to legacy or classic numbering of their books. The rumor is that, come this fall, all of Marvel’s books will adopt a similar strategy. This was bolstered by the news that “Ultimates 2” will become just “Ultiamtes” in August, and will get a #100 numbering, despite the fact that “Ultimates” was a totally different series, set in a different universe.

When DC relaunched for ‘Rebirth,’ only two series – “Action Comics” and “Detective Comics” – went back to their complete numbering. This move was celebrated by many fans, and it seemed appropriate for those classic titles. But would anyone have really cared in “Batwoman” relaunched with #41, so the New 52 series was reflected in the number? I don’t think so.

So, is this renumbering a good thing? Does it honor legacy? Or will it just confuse readers who may not read sites like this to, all of a sudden, have their books jump dozens or hundreds of numbers in between two seemingly random months?

Vote in the poll below, and let us know why you chose what you did in the comments!
