On Friday, we asked you which “Marvel Comics” #1000 one-pager was the one that did it for you. Of the 80+ stories, there were a few that emerged as favorites for our readership, but one stood out above the rest. “We’re Calling Him Ben” by Brad Meltzer (“Identity Crisis,” “Justice League of America”) and Julian Totino Tedesco (“Witchfinder,” “Uncanny X-Force”) was the winner with 12.5% of the vote.
We are trying to remain as spoiler-free as we can, but we can say that this is a Spider-Man story, and that it continues Meltzer’s tradition of wringing every bit of emotion out of a story, for better or worse.
Four stories tied for second place with 8.3%: “Miracleman Prelude” by Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham, “Doom Alone” by Jason Latour, “Tomorrow” by Al Ewing and Paul Azaceta, and “Because of Her” by Gerry Conway and Greg Land.
While the book certainly had a large variance of quality, it seems like a book that has something for every kind of Marvel fan. We hope you enjoyed our poll, and check back on Friday for the next one!
