More than two years ago, we asked our readers if they wanted to see Zack Snyder’s rumored ‘Snyder Cut’ of Justice League. At the time, most reliable sources said that they cut didn’t exist, and the hysteria fueled about it was more of the same when it comes to the internet and comics. We thought this would be a funny footnote, an inside joke for the comics community to laugh about years down the road.
We were wrong. Dead wrong.
The ‘Snyder Cut’ is real, and it is debuting on HBO MAX in 2021. Now, it seems likely that this has been a project taken up after the fact by Snyder, so whether this is actually what a Snyder-finished Justice League would look like will never be known. But this is happening, and so we need to start calibrating our expectations. Would this version of the film have set the DCEU on a totally different path? Will its retroactive greatness mean that we will, indeed, see that Deathstroke movie starring Joe Manganiello? Most importantly, will we get mustachioed Superman?
