The question of who has the best rogues gallery in comics often comes down to just a few characters. However, it seems clear that, among Marvel characters, few characters come close to Spider-Man. There are so many notable villains that, in compiling this list, we almost forgot about some major ones. And who knows, maybe you think we did!
From crime boss Wilson Fisk to brilliant scientist Otto Octavius, the symbiote pair of Venom and Carnage to the dual electric heroes Shocker and Electro, or the tweener villains Black Cat and Sandman, there are so many different looks to Spider-Man’s adversaries.
They are also, perhaps even ahead of Batman, the villains that have had the most mainstream recognition, both through headlining their own series or showing up across various media.
