Comics are full of legacy characters swapping identities, costumes, and allegiances. But, more often than not, things in comics return to the original, because nostalgia sells like no other. And so, we aren’t asking who your favorite legacy characters are, or characters that have had multiple identities running around at the same time, but who is your favorite replacement hero?
Our criteria is pretty simple: this is a character that, for a time, was the ‘only’ version of this character running around. It is also a case of a power vacuum opening and needing someone to step into the shoes. We’re not talking about passing the mantle on, or a Robin retiring, only to have a new Robin show up. When this person first put on the costume, it was because the world needed its hero back.
