Earlier today, we revealed our 2022 publisher of the year, Image Comics. Later today, we will reveal our best Small Press publisher, [redacted]. But while we wrote up six publishers between the two articles, many, many more publishers did good work this year. And so, we have compiled all the publishers of any size that got multiple votes in our internal staff voting and put them all as options on today’s Reader Poll.
There are cases to be made for all of these publishers, and while it is obviously very subjective, let me take you into some of what our staff considers when voting on these categories. Who’s publishing line is consistent, both in terms of output and quality? What publishers are both bringing in new voices and giving older creators a place to do their work? What publisher pushes boundaries and is trying new things?
