Reader Poll: Who is Doing the Best Substack?

We are now almost two years into the great migration of comic creators to Substack, and the results have been mixed. We’ve seen some great books come out of the experiment, as well as some underwhelming and underdelivering creators as well. But what was once seen as a flash in the pan has established itself as a relatively stable and reliable method for releasing comics in the 2020s.

So now, the logical question is, who is doing it best?

This is by no means a complete list of comics-based Substacks, but we feel that this covers the big names and the folks who have been gaining attention for doing it well. But of course, “well” is a subjective term. Jeff Lemire killed the paid portion, but continues to do deep dives into his work. Is that ‘better’ than a creator debuting work to their subscribers that will eventually come out elsewhere? That’s not for us to say. But when answering this question, we want you to be honest and tell us exactly whose work has been most satisfying to your particular tastes.

So, vote in our Reader Poll, and check back on Monday for the results. Enjoy your weekend!
