Today sees the release of the latest DC comics film, Blue Beetle. Though Jaime Reyes, the titular Blue Beetle, was only introduced in 2006, the character has a much longer history. First introduced in the pages of Fox Comics in 1939, Dan Garrett was the first to have that title. In 1966, a second Blue Beetle, Ted Kord, was introduced twelve years after the book moved to Charlton Comics. For a character introduced just 15 or so months after Superman, Blue Beetle is still a relatively unknown character, despite appearances in animation (Batman: The Brave and the Bold), live-action television (Smallville), and prominent spots on DC teams like the Justice League and theTeen Titans.
Now, for some of our polls, we add lots of options, multiversal counterparts, etc. For this topic though, we thought we’d keep it simple: just the three Beetles to headline a book under that name. Pick your favorite, vote, and check back on Monday for the results!
