This week, DC began the rollout for their summer event, “Absolute Power,” which is their first company-wide crossover event of 2024. DC is no stranger to events, but this feels like the biggest push since 2022’s “Dark Crisis [on Infinite Earths],” whcih felt like the biggest event since 2020’s “Dark Nights: Death Metal,” and so on and so on. So, with this new event popping off, we thought it would be a good time to look back at the events DC has done since 2016’s ‘Rebirth’ initiative replaced the New 52. Which one is your favorite?
Now, there are some caveats here. We went with events that theoretically touched most of the DC Universe, so things like “Joker War” or “Drowned Earth” got left off the list. That said, we did include “Doomsday Clock” even though it’s hard to really tell if that was an event or something entirely different. We also realize that some of these, like “Event Leviathan” or “Heroes in Crisis” were really creator-specific endeavors, but they had the character breadth to count. We also included things like “Future State” and “Knight Terrors” which paused the main line of comics while they came out, but felt more like stopgaps than real ‘events.’ Also, “Endless Winter” is on the list, but I can’t imagine anyone actually voting for it.
So, select your favorite event and check back on Monday for the results!
