Today sees the wide release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the second of the beautifully rendered animated films following the journey of Miles Morales. The film is getting fantastic reviews (currently 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes), and continues the trend of Spidey films being, generally, well received.
This wasn’t always the case, however. We’ve been spoiled by the recent Tom Holland successes and may not recall the backlash to Spider-Man 3 or the general indifference that met the Andrew Garfield-starring vehicles. But whether or not the critics loved them, we want to know: which is your favorite Spider-Man movie?
You may notice three films on the list that you may not recognize. Six episodes of The Amazing Spider-Man, the late 70s television series, were packaged as films, either for broadcast in the United States, or for theatrical release internationally. These were, to fans of a certain age like myself, the first time we ever saw a live-action Spider-Man, and so it seems appropriate to include them. Plus, that theme song!
