It’s a new year, which means that there are a new slate of superhero films on the way to your multiplex. Some of these may look like a good time, where others just aren’t our cup of tea. If you’re anything like us, you’ll probably see them all regardless.
This is a very strange and transitional year for DC, as they have four 2023 films, but the entire world knows that the state of DC films is, to put it mildly, in flux. All but one, Blue Beetle, featuring returning characters in some capacity, and one of those recurring characters is portrayed by someone who has been in the news for a few pretty serious crimes.
On the MCU side, this is a relatively standard year, with the third installments of both Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy coming out, as well as The Marvels, a movie where TV and film starts are coming together into a new combination.
And then we have our outliers: another animated Spider-Verse film, a TMNT CGI movie, and the latest Sony Spider-Man adjacent project.
