Earlier this week, Marvel announced a new iteration of the Ultimate Universe, to be helmed by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch’s “Ultimate Invasion.” This will mark the fifth version of the Ultimate Universe at the House of Ideas, and the first since 2015. And so, with this fourth resurrection, we want to know which of the prior incarnations is your favorite.
The original “Ultimate Marvel” was a revelation, highlighted by Brian Bendis and Mark Bagley’s “Ultimate Spider-Man.” For those that weren’t reading comics at the time, “Ultimate Spider-Man” was a sea change of a book, and brought a lot of new readers in and old readers back to Spidey. Various, shorter, reboots followed, but none of those had quite the cultural impact of the original. That said, the second version brought Miles Morales to the forefront, the third saw Hickman’s “The Ultimates” dominate the line, and the fourth saw Marvel bring in some really interesting creators like Michel Fiffe and Joshua Hale Fialkov take the reins, so it isn’t like those reboots were without merit. It’s just hard to catch lightning in a bottle.
So, vote in our poll, and check back on Monday for the results!
