Today marks the release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which has unfortunately received significantly more mixed reviews than its wonderful predecessor. But we’re not here to dwell on that: we want to take the opportunity to learn your favorite member of the Shazam Family! Billy Batson, Mary Bromfield, and Freddy Freeman have certainly had two very distinct families, before and after the ‘New 52’ reboot: before the revamp, the fourth most prominent family member was Uncle Dudley, whereas now it might be Darla Dudley, one of three diverse foster siblings introduced by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank.
We’re naturally curious as to where they’ll all rank, as well as whether you like Mary or Freddy more than Billy, especially given the bittersweet response to the news that Billy would headline Mark Waid and Dan Mora’s relaunch so soon after Mary starred in “The New Champion of Shazam.” And no, we didn’t include Black Adam or Isis, since it would defeat the purpose of this survey on the former Marvel Family, but feel free to take the movie versions into account when determining your favorite.
