Be warned: we are going to talk about the spoilers in both “DC Universe: Rebirth” #1 and “Captain America: Steve Rogers” #1, so if you haven’t caught up on those yet, stop reading now. I’ll even throw in a verse of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” to throw off the RSS/front page text, so no one is accidentally spoiled:
Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
And there’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there’s only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart
OK, let’s dig in: Wally West is back, “Watchmen” is in continuity, and Cap is a Nazi. What a week, eh?
Look – DC and Marvel had to know that these moves would ruffle some feathers, but I don’t think either publisher quite realized what it was doing when it set these in motion. Wally West is the least problematic of the three, especially as New 52 Wally is still very much a part of the DCU, so let’s toss that one out the window.
We want to know: which of these works better? Or, maybe this is a better question: which offends you less? Are you more on board with a potential Superman/Dr. Manhattan throwdown, or the eventual “it was all a misunderstanding” conversation around Cap’s “Hail Hydra?” Vote in our poll, and then tell us more in the comments!
