As of next Wednesday, there will be four different books being published with four different X-Men teams. We’ve got the Charles Soule-written “Astonishing X-Men,” featuring Archangel, Bishop, Fantomex, Gambit, Mystique, Old Man Logan, Psylocke, and Rogue. Marc Guggenheim’s “X-Men Gold” features Kitty Pride, Old Man Logan, Storm, Prestige, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Ink, and Armor. “X-Men Blue,” written by Cullen Bunn, features the time-displaced original five X-Men – Beast, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Ice-Man, and Angel – along with Jimmy Hudson and Bloodstorm. And, last but not least, the brand-new “X-Men Red,” written by Tom Taylor, which is led by the recently returned ‘adult’ Jean Grey and is comprised of Namor, Gentle, Nightcrawler, Gabby Kinney, Laura Kinney, and Trinary.
While we can debate the relative merits of the three books already being published, we know very little of “X-Men Red” beyond a short preview and the description that Taylor has given. So, let’s leave the creative process out of it for a second. Just based on characters, who is your favorite X-team? Which features the most ‘go-to’ mutants from your personal favorites? Do any of these teams, potentially, live up to your favorite teams from the past? Vote in our reader poll, and then tell us why in the comments!
