I like them both--much, much more than I ever expected to--but Mice Templar is clearly my favorite of the two. I was completely sucked in by the third chapter and literally could not put the book down.

Mouse Guard is also good, but it contains a couple of sections of some really clumsy storytelling (I'm thinking specifically of the "reveal" of who the villain is, which was built up as a great mystery and then revealed as an "oh, by the way" in a recap of the previous chapter). I also felt like the characters in Mouse Guard weren't quite a fully developed as they were in Mice Templar.

You can't go wrong with either, but the richer, more complex reading experience is definitely Mice Templar.

I really love both books, i think the art in Mouse...

I really love both books, i think the art in Mouse Guard is truly amazing. The story is entertaining and fun, i love the world he's created I love how he lets us explore it with the Guard.

BUT if i could only read one of these two i'd pick Mice Templar. The mythology created for this story is astonishing. Everything has a basis in actual folk lore (each issue comes with 2 or so pages explaining the myths behind certain events or characters in that months book) yet these real legends arent trapped in their original form, instead they're borrowed and made to fit seamlessly into the story. And dont forget about that Templar part of the title, its not just a cool name used to stir up thoughts of knights, a great deal of the background stories of the Mice Templar is bases right out of real Templar legend. For a nerd who loves great writing, art, mythology, talking animals and religious allegory do yourself a favor and pick up Mice Templar in all its glory.
