“As far as first-time efforts go, I’d put them in the same class as guys like Jonathan Hickman and The Luna Brothers.”

This is what Image Comics publisher Eric Stephenson had to say about The Strange Tales of Luther Strode creators Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore in our interview from yesterday. The book, coming in October, has very little out there in terms of what it really is all about. Here’s what we know from Jordan’s vHive site:

The Strange Talent of Luther Strode is about a skinny, bullied kid who orders an old time bodybuilding course from a comic book, and finds out that it works. What he doesn’t know that is that the book is actually a tryout for an ancient murder cult, and Luther’s new strength and talent comes with certain strings attached.

Or, more simply, it’s about a geek who thinks he’s becoming a superhero when he’s really becoming a slasher.

Throw in that highly entertaining high concept with the fact that Tradd Moore’s art is pretty much amazing, and you’ve got a nice recipe for a good book. Then add Stephenson’s high praise? You’ve got a book that looks like a must buy come October. Look for more on this as it is revealed.
