Welcome, one and all, to Multiversity’s Art of the Week! Each week, we scour the internet for artwork sourced from the blogs, tumblrs, twitters, and instagrams of the best comic book and manga artists out there and curate them here for your viewing pleasure.
This week sees the release of Tom King and Clay Mann’s highly anticipated “Heroes in Crisis” series for DC Comics. Long time fans know that DC usually saves the “Crisis” designation for highly consequential event stories, which usually involve the death of one or more supporting characters (past “Crisis” deaths have included Barry Allen. Sue Dibney, Superboy and Martian Manhunter to name just a few.) And if the rumors are to be believed, this “Heroes in Crisis” will be no exception, promising to be very consequential and promising at least one high profile death.
The other common denominator of past Crisis books has been the fun of seeing various and sundry DC characters all thrown together under one roof. And while we don’t know exactly which characters King and Mann will be throwing into the mix, we have seen some familiar faces popping up in the previews. So this week we’ll sort through some art showcasing the “Heroes in Crisis” roster of characters (including Booster Gold, Flash, Poison Ivy, Mister Miracle, Harley Quinn and Batman amongst others).
To find out what King and co. have in store for these characters, be sure to check out Multiversity’s extensive “Heroes in Crisis” coverage and, as always, be sure to check back next week to see more exciting and rarely seen artwork from the world of comic books and manga.
