Welcome, one and all, to Multiversity’s Art of the Week! Each week, we scour the internet for artwork sourced from the blogs, Tumblrs, Twitters, and Instagrams of the best comic book and manga artists out there and curate them here for your viewing pleasure.
October marks Halloween season as well as Inktober, when artists pick a theme and produce a piece for all 31 days. As a result, we have some delightfully sinister work, like Declan Shalvey’s deceitfully innocuous take on Jack the Ripper, and selections from Dan Schkade’s #DrFatetober, as well as popular themes like “Batober” and “Blacktober.”
Also on today’s edition is Benjamin Tiesma using the Man of Steel’s freeze breath to make him intimidating (instead of the other thing); tributes to the late Eddie Van Halen and Izumi Matsumoto; and Josh Burcham’s Beast Wars fan art, which seems to have been a teaser in disguise. Have fun, and remember (as Kevin Maguire reminds us), to wear a mask, wash your hands, and social distance.
