As we mentioned earlier, this week brings the final issue of one of our favorite series – DMZ. Writer Brian Wood and artist Riccardo Burchielli have been working on this Vertigo series for a long time, and it’s become one of our favorites for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the diverse and stunning art featured within it.
While Burchielli worked on the bulk of it, artists like Nathan Fox, John Paul Leon, Ryan Kelly, Shawn Martinbrough, Cliff Chiang, Kristian Donaldson and others have put together incredible work that have made us fall in love with the characters and this world that has been created. This week on Art of the Week, we’re highlighting examples of their art (not necessarily from DMZ) to coincide with its finale.
To start that off, we have the piece at the top of this article which, near as I can tell, is a pitch piece that Brian Wood himself created for DMZ. Many forget that Wood himself is a highly talented artist, and it seemed only right to start off with him. You can find the rest after the jump.
