You know what I love? Film noir. It’s a genre that was incredibly popular during the 40s and 50s and saw a bit of a drop off after that, but has seen a bit of a resurgence as modern filmmakers who grew up with and loved those films when they were younger make films in that style with modern filmmaking techniques. You know who else seems to be a fan of film noir? Greg Smallwood. The above is a piece from Smallwood’s collection of his favourite noir films and just so happens to be my favourite of the bunch, Rian Johnson’s Brick. If you haven’t seen this film, it’s one of the best films made in the last fifteen years, easily. And Smallwood’s piece perfectly encapsulates the film.
Down below, as always, is a collection of artwork from the last week by the best comic artists that you won’t see in comic books because like… they’re just sketches and stuff, right? So, like, I collect them in this post every week because I like them and I want others to see them. It’s called Art Of The Week. It’s been a weekly institution of this site for literally years now. Check it out.
