Last week saw the finale to Ed Brisson and Johnnie Christmas’ “Sheltered” with its fifteenth issue. It was really good. I’m still really sad about it. “Sheltered” was book that I initially picked up on kind of a whim because the concept seemed neat and because I’d missed out on Brisson’s “Comeback” and everyone had said that was really good. “Sheltered” was a complex look at how it feels to be young and trapped in the modern world and looked down upon by the previous generation. It was dark, emotional, violent and gripping. I loved it. I’m sad it’s over, but from the off it was a series with a finite running time and I’m glad Brisson and Christmas got to tell their story in full.
Which is why I wanted to spotlight this piece by Joe Eisma of Lucas, the mastermind behind much of the tragedy of “Sheltered”. Seriously, it was a great series. If you haven’t already, I highly suggest you check it out.
As always, because at this point it’s too late to change, the rest of this week’s art (oh yeah, I forgot: something something Art Of The Week something something collect art from the internet you know the deal) is all down below for you to check out. Special shoutout goes to that Martha Wayne piece by Lara Margarida by almost making me cry.
Enjoy!
