Art Of The Week: Week Of 04/29/2015

A couple of years ago, Gerard Way shared some designs he used to pitch DC a Batman book titled “Kingdom Of The Mad”. As a fan of Way’s, I’m still a little hurt that this idea never saw fruition as I would have loved to have seen his exploration of Gotham and its inhabitants. This week, that hurt got a little worse as Christian Ward experimented with his take on Way’s design for the Dark Knight. Now, I gotta say, with all the talk surrounding the upcoming slate of DC’s movies, this is an aesthetic I would have loved to have seen on screen.

Alas, it will probably never happen except in my dreams. What I know will happen, though, is that you’re probably gonna keep scrolling on down to look at all the art collected for this week’s Art Of The Week and you’re, hopefully, gonna find something you like. So get scrolling!

    Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
