Here’s a secret: I liked “Pretty Deadly”. I liked “Pretty Deadly” a lot. I think Kelly Sue DeConnick and Emma Rios (and Jordie Bellaire, for good measure) created an intensely original and stylistic comic book and I eagerly await the second volume. I also intensely love the character of Deathface Ginny (so much so that she is permanently inked on my arm) which is why I wanted to highlight this piece of her by Marcio Takara.
Takara has become something of a mainstay on this column and for good reason. His art has evolved so much even over the last year or so that we’ve seen him post commissions like this and he’s really become one of the unique styles in comic book art. I cannot wait to see him collab with Kelly Sue on “Captain Marvel” #7 and #8.
But enough about me gushing about comics I like, there’s art to be had. Everything I’ve enjoyed and collected over the last week is down below for your perusal.
Also, as a note, if you want to be featured on Art Of The Week or just see an awesome piece you’d like to see featured and don’t want me to miss then drop me a line @FallOfThePoets on Twitter or at david.h@multiversitycomics.com
Enjoy!
