In this week’s Art of the Week, there is a multitude of great stuff, with varying themes. First, Duncan Fegredo gives a new spin on the iconic Star Wars anti-hero Han Solo, followed by Nick Roche’s glorious rendition of the classic good vs. evil battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron. After that, Andy Kuhn and Dan Panosian posted some great interpretations of children’s stories, with works showcasing The Big Bad Wolf and Alice in Wonderland, repsectively. Following that, it’s the Phil Noto Show again as he shares two wonderful Avengers-themed pieces, one recreating the scene between Loki and Iron Man in the Avengers trailer, plus a lovely picture of former KGB Super-Spy Natalia Romanov. Continuing past the ever present Noto, it’s a Terry Gilliam theme with 12 Monkeys by Luther Strode‘s Tradd Moore; followed by a lovely work in color by Jorge Coelho simply called Red. Following that, Jorge Muñoz and David Lafuente give tribute to the character/book Prophet with some lovely but hugely disparate takes on the property. Finally, The God Machine’s Chandra Free posts a late entry with a quote “quick sketch.” Just, wow. This was a great week!
Massimo Carnevale’s piece above mixes gorgeous character designs with a beautifully symmetry and some breathtaking colors on top of that. While I haven’t seen the movie My Blueberry Nights, this is gorgeous and was deservedly the feature in this week’s column. Astounding work, Massimo!
