This week on Multiversity’s Art Feature, we have a lot of great artists, starting with my personal favorites, the Superman family. We start out with a breathtaking Supergirl by Mahmud Asrar, followed by a Superman piece from Natalie Nourigat, who just so happened to have her work inspired by the Starkid Production Holy Musical B@man! I watched it recently myself, and if you haven’t checked it out, you should.
Speaking of Batman, that’s when we move on into his family of sorts, starting with a creepy Joker piece from Andrew MacLean, followed by Red Robin by Michael Walsh and Huntress by Vincent Kukua. From there we move into a Marvel centric section with Kukua’s P5 Studiomate Jonathan Chan posting a Black Widow, followed by Gray Hulk (or Mr. Fixit) by Leinil Yu. From there it goes from “Avengers” to “X-Men,” with an “Avengers”/”X-Men” crossover from Peter Nguyen featuring everyone’s new favorite villain Loki and everyone’s favorite weather goddess, Storm! The final bit of Marvel/DC goodness is yet another amazing piece from Francesco Francavilla, who I never get tired of posting. This time it’s a minimalist piece with the hit movie X-Men: First Class featured
Moving to the indie side of comics, James Harren submitted an “Invincible” piece and Jorge Munoz shared a wonderful work inspired by the “Parker” series. Finally, we move into the multimedia section. Joe Quinones posts one of my favorite villains, The Venture Bros.‘ Monarch, and finally, our featured piece, a wonderful sci-fi inspired piece that comes from the series Community.
Inspector Spacetime is an homage to the popular BBC series Doctor Who, which it matches thematically, nearly to the core. The piece perfectly complements the wonder of the series that is mostly in Troy and Abed’s imagination. The spacey hat was a particularly nice touch, as was the warm colors that fit a character like Abed. Abed himself is quite warm, even if he seems cold at first glance. What an awesome week all around!
