This week for our weekly Art Feature, AotW has soem great superhero work paired with some astounding works based on movies or television shows. Starting with our featured piece from Leinil Yu, Psylocke is gorgeously captured. Another X-Man, a certain affable interpretation of Wolverine, follows by Ramon Perez. Closing out the Marvel pieces, Paolo Rivera shares an NYCC commission of his Daredevil.
Moving on to DC, we start with a Black Canary as rendered by Michael Walsh, who for some reason I always almost call him Brandon. I must think he’s secretly Jason Priestly or something. After that, Michael Cho’s Batman piece makes you wonder why he said he never liked drawing him, and Joe Quinones shares a Flash drawing based on his Blue Lantern costume from “Blackest Night.”
Finally, we find our way to the media inspired pieces, with one of my favorite pieces this week, a feline Doctor Who by Katie Cook, which is sure to excite EIC Matt! From there, popular artist Cameron Stewart draws a grim Judge Dredd (is there really any other kind?). Natalie Nourigat also happened to post a piece based on Pixar’s film Brave after seeing it in theatres, and to close it out, Ming Doyle shares a piece based on Mad Men character Joan Holloway. Wonderful stuff all around!
