For this week’s Art Feature, we have an outstanding week for you, and probably one of my favorites since I took over the column some months ago. For starters, the featured piece, by Joe Quinones, brings back a lot of nostalgia for Nickelodeon from the early to mid 90’s show The Adventures of Pete & Pete! It’s even inspired by Big Trouble in Little China! Wow! Dustin Nguyen continues the TV inspired pieces with a drawing from one of the final scenes from the recent Game of Thrones finale.
From there we move to the Marvel Universe. We start with Michael Walsh’s take on fan-favorite “Guardians of the Galaxy” character Rocket Raccoon, and then move to the X-Men corner of the universe with Marcio Takara’s version of Marvel Girl. Finally, we start to move into the “Avengers” franchise, as Declan Shalvey shares a wonderful Skaar piece to celebrate the release of “Dark Avengers” today! From there, we move to the Avengers proper, with everyone’s favorite super-spy/assassin Black Widow, and then we close out the Marvel Universe with a terrfic Watercolor of the popular Avengers villain Loki!
From there, we move into the DC Universe, with joe Pekar’s wonderful take on Diana of Themiscyra (pun intended). From there, we go to a piece inspired by the popular DC title “Secret Six”, with a piece featuring Catman and Scanadal Savage. Finally, we have everyone’s favorite scarred rich boy Bruce Wayne who may have just had a sexy encounter with a certain feline burglar.
And last, but certainly NOT least, we close it out with a piece from Jorge F. Munoz, that showcases the lead character LBD from his eponymous Image title “Li’l Depressed Boy.” Don’t be so sad LDB, you made the cut! Also be sure to click the link to the LDB post, which features a gif that shows the process from beginning to end in composing the lovely artwork.
What a wonderful week! Which was your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
