The Green Mile by Massimo Carnevale

Art of the Week is back on a new day! Now Fridays are the day for checking out some of the best art on the web!

Our featured piece comes from Massimo Carnevale, who pays tribute to the late Michael Clarke Duncan through his breakout role in The Green Mile. It’s a wonderful return to the round-up, even if it was due to a tragic loss. From there, Sam Spratt posted a breathtaking Barack Obama piece.

The pieces inspired by popular culture continue with Becky Cloonan’s take on a selection from “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” Vincent Kukua publishing a piece of everyone’s favorite pink balloon video game character, Kirby, drawn in the style of…Jack Kirby! We finish up the Pop Culture Section with Selena Goulding’s take on what a band of Disney Princesses might look like!

From there, we have a heavy focus on Marvel’s Merry Mutants, with Leinil Yu drawing Rogue, David J. Cutler drawing Nightcrawler, and Marcio Takara sharing a piece of a mutant who’s not an X-Man, Scarlet Witch! Finally, Joe Quinones’ shocked Batman is one of my favorite Batman pieces in a long time!

Which piece was your favorite? Let us know in the comments below!

Disney Princesses Battle of the Bands by Selena Goulding

Gilbert Short

Gilbert Short. The Man. The Myth. The Legend. When he's not reading comic books so you don't have to, he's likely listening to mediocre music or watching excellent television. Passionate about Giants baseball and 49ers football. When he was a kid he wanted to be The Ultimate Warrior. He still kind of does. His favorite character is Superman and he will argue with you about it if you try to convince him otherwise. He also happens to be the head of Social Media Relations, which means you should totally give him a follow onTwitter.
