This week on Boomb Tube, our weekly recap of all current animated comic book adaptations, the Ultimate Spider-Man teams up with The Hulk for the hundredth time and Teen Titans Go! loses its damn mind. How exactly?

The Freaking Wonder Twins.
Beast Boy, who in this iteration has become a libertine with no regards for his friends’ safety, is kicked off the team after letting a plnet explode while he tried to decide which animal to turn into before deciding on a llama. The Titans then held auditions in order to replace Beast Boy with another animal based hero. First is Vixen who is rejected just because Cyborg keeps screaming “lame!” at the woman before she can finish like he’s a Texan senator. Then, Bwana Beast shows up and is appropriately laughed at. After this, Detective Chimp shows up and, through the sheer power of him being on the show, earns Teen Titans Go! several Eisner nominations. Unfortunately, the team ends up deciding that the spot will go to, of all people, the Wonder Twins: Jayna who can turn into an animal and Zan who can turn into water. However, in an excellent twist, they only recruit Jayna and make Zan their receptionist because he is the worst.
Beast Boy seeks out Zan, sensing their shared horridness, and they both agree to sabotage Jayna’s heroic exploits so Beast Boy can get back on the team. They do so and hide by laughing together while Zan takes the form of a goldfish bowl that Fish!Beast Boy is swimming in. Truly they took the whole “Partners in Crime thing” to the next level. Fortunately, the duo’s plan fails as Zan squeals on Beast Boy because he is turned into a bucket of water for Cyborg to rest his feet in. Because if there’s one thing the most questionable scene in a show needs, it’s to be redone with a foot fetish twist. Zan decides that he’s done being treated like he’s on FanFiction.net and flushes himself down the toilet, while still covered in the residue from Cyborg’s dogs. Honestly, you have to admire this show for going in the gritty directions you would never have wanted it to.
Beast Boy chases after Zan in the sewers and convinces him not to kill himself because he can’t or something. Afterwards, Beast Boy is recruited back onto the team because whatever and the Wonder Twins leave with Jayna being full aware that her brother, and formerly the person closest to her, would betray her at a moment’s notice. Beast Boy and Cyborg then eat some pizza.
Final Verdict: 7.5 – This was the most psychotically enjoyable episode yet. It may not be deep or sincere but goddamn is it insane.

Over on Ultimate Spider-Man, Peter has a fight with Batroc the Leaper on a roof and really that’s where we could cut the episode off and give it a ten out of ten for the sheer presence of Batroc. Unfortunately, there’s twenty minutes left to go. SHIELD calls up Spider-Man to help out in their mental reprogramming of the Hulk, who is doing this voluntarily so he can be seen as a good guy to the public. Because everyone on this show is completely stupid, they perform this by bringing in Mesmero, who had previously mind-swapped Spider-Man and Wolverine, to mentally fix Hulk. Since no one can come up with new story ideas for Ultimate Spider-Man, Mesmero, who SHIELD doesn’t even bother putting a mental block on or something, swaps Spider-Man and Hulk’s minds. The Hulk, now with Peter’s mind, walks around with the weirdest possible voice. Imagine this huge monstrous yet childish voice sounding like a bad impression of a teenager. It’s horrific.
Meanwhile, The Hulk is now in Spider-Man’s body and all he really does as a teenager is doodle on his tests and get sticky. We’ve all been there. Eventually, Spider-Hulk makes his way to the streets and causes more havoc as The Thing shows up out of completely nowhere to take down the Hulk. Soon enough, both Spider-Hulk and The Thing turn around, remember that Mesmero is a thing, and fight him with the help of Peter Banner. Hulk and Spider-Man get their minds swapped back and Hulk flies away to go star in Agents of SMASH.
Final Verdict: 6.4 – “Freaky Friday” episodes are usually a show’s laziest and this is Ultimate Spider-Man’s second one. You do the math.
