Welcome back to Burpee’s Got You Covered where I pick my favorite covers of the week. What is my criterion? Well to be honest, as you’ll see from this weeks list there is no criterion. As long as I dig it and it came out this week it’s super eligible. So let’s get the going while it’s going? What does that even mean? Well my list makes a little more sense but not much so come on y’all!

4. Red Sonja: Wrath of the Gods #3
by Lucio Parillo

Red Sonja Muay Thai Warrior!

I only put this cover on here because I wanted to say that. I mean seriously look at that flying knee hit! AWESOME!

3. Invincible Returns #1
by David Finch

It’s neat seeing a darker rendition of the character. It is in stark contrast to the more lighthearted depictions by Corey Walker and Ryan Ottley. While I still prefer the other two gentlemen’s versions this is a really cool cover with some serious dark overtone, which is Finch’s forte.

2. Deadpool and Cable #25 (Variant)
by Robert Liefeld

What I love about this cover is the fact that paying homage to the cover of Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 is extremely overdone. Why do I love it in this case than? Well because it is being overly done with a character that at the moment is overly used. It’s an amazing pairing that I have to believe is purposefully done. Liefeld’s involvement is just a cherry on top of some sweet comic cover sundae surprise.

1. Uncanny X-Men #523 (Variant)
by David Finch

Finch hits the list twice this week and for two weeks in a row is in the top spot thanks to his involvement with Second Coming. The X-Men look great here on this cover. Great iconic style team shot of some of my favorite X-Characters. Finch’s covers for Second Coming are already beginning to rival the fantastic covers he did for Messiah Complex. Big fan of Finch’s X-Stuff and it baffles me that Marvel never utilized him on interiors for an X-Book before he left for the Distinguished Competition.

Now it’s time to take at the top three artists in the history of this column. Next to the artists name is the number of times they have been on this list since it’s existed. We now have a solid three as Finch moves in to join Kubert and Granov who still has a strangle hold on that top spot. Finch is on a roll though maybe he’ll knock King Granov off the throne.

Adi Granov — 7
Adam Kubert — 3
David Finch — 3

That’s it for this week fanboys and fangirls. I’ll hopefully see you next week for another go around. Let me know what you think of the list and whether or not there are titles you think should have been included but weren’t. Hit the comments and we can discuss the week that was. Have a good week everyone.

XOXOXO
