This week I’m back! Thanks to David for stepping in last week while I was otherwise occupied. This week we have some fantastic covers. As far as artists we have two who make their second appearance and another that surprisingly makes just their first. So what do we have this week? Click the jump and find out yo!

3. The Last Phantom #1
by Alex Ross

HARDCORE! This cover is brutally awesome! The Phantom covered in blood stalking through the jungle. I saw this cover back when the solicitations came out and loved it instantly. It proves yet again just how amazing of a talent the living legend Alex Ross is. Surprisingly this is his first appearance on this list.

2. Age of Heroes #4
by Jae Lee

I love Jae Lee’s art. This cover is both haunting and beautiful. While I didn’t pick this issue up I almost did just to have the cover in my collection. The only downside to this cover is that it makes me sad we don’t see more of Jae Lee’s work. His Steve Rogers on ice is brilliant.

1. DV8: Gods and Monsters #5
by Fiona Staples

While this was my least favorite issue of the series so far there is no denying the cover is a gem. As David pointed out, in our next installment of 4 Color News & Brews, this cover really tells the whole issue in one image. It’s precise storytelling at it’s finest. The use of white space to make the characters really stand out is well done as well. Overall, the best cover that hit the stands in the week that has just passed us by.

There you have it. Some covers that set great examples for future covers and how to do it with style. As always I’m glad to have had you covered and I look forward to next weeks books as it looks like there is a lot coming out.

I’ll leave you with the top spot rankings.

1. Adi Granov — 13
2. David Finch — 9
3. Adam Kubert — 4
3. Chris Bachalo — 4
3. Dave Johnson — 4
