Oh snap! It’s Burpee’s Got You Covered time!So sit back and relax as I take you on a viewing pleasure trip. I’ve gone through the books released this week and I’ve selected my favorite covers of the week. There is no criterion for my selections other than the cover needing to catch my eye for some reason or another. So this week I bring you another random assortment of covers that I though were the best of the bunch this week. So hit the jump and see what tickled my fancy this week…..

4. Action Comics #892
by David Finch

I chose this cover because while it’ just a simple fight scene it elicited that primal fanboy instinct inside of me that said, “ Holy shit that would be awesome!”. I then quickly looked inside to see if shown fight actually occurs in the book. This cover gets on the list because it got me to open the book and thumb through. If you’re a comic company and the cover of one of your books triggers this response you’ve got the right thing going on. So while not the best cover of the week it still gets a nod for it’s ability to draw me in.

3. Avengers #4
by JRJR

Old Man Tony looks gnarly. JRJR really kills this cover. It is insanely simple buy yet the Iron Man suit looks fantastic and the expression and intensity on Tony’s face is a testament to the talent that is JRJR. While JRJR hasn’t really been the king of covers as of recently I still think that this cover is amazing and credit is due to the man for giving it to us.

2. Bart Simpson Comics #55
by Matt Groening

This cover just makes me laugh hysterically every time I look at it. Classic Simpsons and that is never a bad thing. I love Bart’s taped on Lisa hair. How funny is that shit? REALLY FUNNY! That’s how funny. Not a usual kind of entry here on the list but every once in awhile something like this ends up on the list and my list is all the better for it.

So what do you think of the list this week? Why don’t you hit the comments and let me know what covers you enjoyed or didn’t enjoy this week. I’d love to see what everyone else is enjoying out there in comic land.

1. Namor: The First Mutant #1
by Jae Lee

Wasn’t it just last week that I was saying we don’t get enough of Mr. Jae Lee?! Well maybe this is the sign of more to come. This cover is brilliant. I love the two bite marks that are releasing Namor’s blood into the water. The way the blood streaks upwards toward the surface is such a small touch but it has large artistic impact. I also love that he’s using sea life as a throne. This is probably the coolest Namor’s looked in ages. I mean seriously everyone say it with me, “Fuck yeah Jae Lee!”.

To end this week i’ll leave you with the top artists rankings. Listed are the artist and their rank. The number to the right of their name is the number of appearances they’ve made on the list. Have a great week everyone and I’ll see you next week.

1. Adi Granov — 13
2. David Finch — 10
3 Adam Kubert — 4
3. Chris Bachalo — 4
3. Dave Johnson — 4

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
