With it being Mother’s Day we here are Multiversity wanted to get into the spirit by offering up some Mother’s Day content. My site mates did a round table discussion about the best mothers in comics and it turned out great. For me though I wanted to do a specific list and give some reasons on why they made my list.
These mothers are the crème de le crème. Many would list Ma Kent or Sue Storm as some of the best moms in comics. I say hell no! Those ladies don’t love their kids or families like these mothers.

6. The Brood
Laying eggs in people and then nurturing them till the baby Brood convert them. The Queen Brood has shown time and time again all she cares about is the survival of her young and the dominance of her ginormous family.
5. Aunt May
While she is not truly Peter Parker’s mother she is the closest thing Peter has ever had. He loves his “mommy” so much that he forfeited his long-standing marriage to save her wrinkly ass. I mean talk about an Oedipal Complex. Right?That’s gotta be one awesome mom if you’re willing to give up a model wife who has kept your secret for so long for, again, a wrinkly ass old lady who can’t have many years left.
4. Talia Al Ghul
She grew her son and has since manipulated him in hopes he’ll be a strong and capable man. She even went so far as to take control of her son’s functions and brought the controlling mother moniker to a whole new level.
3. Mystique
She was willing to kill a baby, a baby who was the first homo superior since Scarlett Witch’s mother rage and family world building phases culminated in the Decimation of the mutant species. Killing babies for your daughter? That’s a dedicated mother, albeit pretty gnarly tactics to show you care.
2. Scarlet Witch
This lady lost it in some kind of super powered depression over the loss of her children who weren’t real but may be real. You follow that? Good it’s essentially a 3 year period of Marvel in the 00’s. The end result of her mother scorned tantrum included, the death of numerous Avengers, the Disassembling of the classic Avengers, the creation of a world where here family was worshipped and lastly the Decimation of the mutant population.
1. Ms. Marvel
She loved her son so much she ran away to limbo with him as lovers until he grew old and died. While she might have been one of the more convoluted mothers the fact remains she fucking loved her son!
Well, there you have it everyone the best mothers in comics! I think this list is pretty indisputable. Now remember to tell your mommas you love them! Now if only your moms loved you like these characters love their children.
