Cat of the Week: Simone

This week for Pet of the Week, we bring you a new reader submission as Jana Cook tells us about Simone the Cat.

Full Name: Simone Cook
First Appearance: August-ish 2000
Favorite Comic: Most anything from Image Comics!
Secret Origin: Born to a feral mother and a lazy father, the only female amongst 3 long-haired brothers. Named after Nina Simone, she has since shown preference for fine comics over fine music.
Simone has moved with me countless times starting from the dusty valley of California to the busy city life of the Bay Area – and never once helped with the boxes! She is, however, very good at keeping the vermin (birds, catnip, rats, mice, string, voles, gophers, etc) away. She loves treats, yogurt, going outside when she can and any lap that appears for more than 30 seconds.
She was once reported to the SPCA by a past (evil) neighbor for “harassing” her kids. More likely the kids were the ones being real devils. The SPCA then stole her away because she didn’t have a collar at the time and I had to go rescue her from the line up. I took her home and promptly moved. But the amazing part about that was the guy at the counter had been working there for 7 years and said I was the second of only TWO PEOPLE who had ever rescued their cats during that time. I felt pretty lucky and knew she be with me until the end of one of us.
If you would like your pet to be Pet of the Week, send pictures and the origin of your dog, cat, fish, lizard, etc (preferably with something comic book related somewhere near him or her to make this all seem “more legitimate”) to matthew@multiversitycomics.com, and every week I’ll choose one to go up on the site. All pets sent in will be featured at some point, so if yours doesn’t show up in the first week just keep checking back.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
