This week at Multiversity, we here at the MC Offices are all hustle and bustle with the various articles that we aim to bring to you by the end of the year, including a brand new column and some look backs! Because of this, CSBC accidentally took a back burner this week in that we simply forgot to communicate, collaborate, and deliver. But we still know that you’re out there, with your $20 and your love of comics. We wouldn’t want to leave you completely in the dark this week, especially the the big holiday season coming up! So take a look past the cut for this week’s smaller-than-usual-but-still-fitting-your-needs Comics Should Be Cheap!

Supergirl #59 ($2.99) – As sad as it is to say this, but this is Sterling Gates’ last issue of Supergirl. Gates along with artist Jamal Igle took Supergirl and turned the book from a title most people would be ok with annoying to the only 100% consistent Super-title for the past year. Supergirl has been nothing short of fantastic since he took the book over, and I’m terribly sad to see him go. However, if he has to go out at all, I’m glad he and Igle are choosing to go out in style with an issue that will supposedly tie every last bit of his story together and wrap their run up in time for Nick Spencer and Bernard Chang to take over. Consider me signed up two months ago.

Thunderbolts #151 ($2.99) – Parker’s Thunderbolts has certainly taken the comic world by storm since the Heroic Age began, returning the book back to it’s roots and giving it a new team dynamic that, while being an odd group at first, ended up being just the perfect amount of eclectic mix to win the hearts of fans both new and old. Now, with a new member on the way, an issue dedicated to the “reformed” Ghost (which is especially funny now that his hate of Iron Man is gone), and a new arc coming that doesn’t rely on any tie-ins to any events or stories (something I had personally lamented in the past), the book is once again ready to take off on it’s own again and is sure to excell.

Green Lantern #60 ($2.99) – Brightest Day has been below our expectations, but Green Lantern is slowly ramping up once again now that Blackest Night is over. With last week’s twist leaving the Flash hosting Parallax as well as the hint at the DCU Blog that the mysterious villain would be unveiled (who claims s/he is not a Guardian), this issue is sure to bring a bang for your buck. With a Frank Quitely anniversary cover to boot, I don’t see any reason not to get the latest issue of the little super hero property that could!

The Unwritten #20 ($2.99) – There are few comic books that are so universally accessible to both those in and out of the comics loop like the Unwritten. Since it began it’s been one of the most outstanding Vertigo series on the market (if not the most oustanding, a topic often debated in the MC Offices). The most recent arc has brought in it’s own twisted and devilish reveals that do not bode well at all for our heroic Tom Taylor, but as friendships change and new villains slowly come to fruition, the Unwritten is still a book that you can’t afford to be missing.

X-Factor #212 ($2.99) – X-Factor is, without a doubt, the single most consistent X-Title currently being published by Marvel. While your mutant allegiances may ultimately reside elsewhere, there is no denying that Jamie Madrox and his motley crew have solidified a proper home within the Marvel U thanks to writer Peter David, and with this issue putting the team up against Thor as the current arc draws to a close, I can assure you that you’re going to want to be getting this book. If you haven’t been already, now is assuredly the time to start (although why you’re not already getting this book is beyond me).

Assassin’s Creed: The Fall #2 ($3.99) – Assassin’s Creed is probably one of the most entertaining game properties that not enough people are talking about, with AC2 and Brotherhood both being smash successes with critics and fans alike. Cue Karl Kerschl and Cameron Stewart, two artists whose names should be readily known to every comic book fan, teaming up with UbiSoft to create an additional side entry into the world of the Assassin’s. Focusing on Soviet Russia, the two have blended both their art and writing that delivered an awesome first issue (that sold out at my local retailer), with the second one sure to deliver from this three issue series. A short but definitely sweet mini, this is a video game property fans of either medium can assuredly enjoy.

Total: $18.94

As an additional note, if your store has a copy of Magus #1, I’d recommend buying it for the art alone. Unfortunately, it looks like not all stores will be getting this issue and those that do might not be getting a lot, so go in early and bring at least $3.99 (since I can’t seem to find how much the issue is actually retailing for).

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
