Five Things We’re Looking For From The Arrow Season 2 Finale

Tomorrow night’s “Unthinkable” is the season finale of Arrow, and I can’t wait. This has been a fantastic season for the show, and there are a lot of things we are hoping to see. Please be warned that, if you aren’t caught up on the season, there will be some spoilers discussed, and you may want to avoid until you’re caught up. If you’re all set, here are the top five things we want to see tomorrow night.

1. Red Arrow/Arsenal’s Emergence

Temporary Team Arrow, shown above, is a crazy assortment of people: Oliver, Sara, Roy, two hooded dark archers (maybe Diggle and Malcolm Merlyn?), and Nyssa al Ghul. While it is crazy to see what an unexpected team has assembled to battle Slade, the more exciting part of this is Roy’s place at Ollie’s right.

Roy’s story has never followed his comic origins as closely as some of the other characters’ did, but it fit within this universe quite well. It seems like, with next season looming on the horizon, there are only two directions he can go: towards being a full time hero, or being the sacrifice at the end of this season.

I really think, in the grand scheme of things, having a sidekick (and not just part of Team Arrow, but an actual partner to go on the town with) makes the show much more interesting, so let’s hope that this is the beginning of Roy being an active part of Ollie’s ensemble.

2. A “Fuck Yeah” Moment for Quentin

Sure, Detective Lance chews scenery wherever he goes, but his character has shown more growth than almost anyone else on the show, and I find myself rooting for him unquestionably. I want a huge moment for him, to complete his transformation into, essentially, the Jim Gordon of Starling City.

3. The End of Slade’s Story…on the Island

I have a feeling that, even if Slade Wilson survives the finale, we won’t be seeing too much of him in Season 3, at least not in the modern sections. However, Slade in 2014 is infinitely more interesting than Slade on the island is, and I hope that the island story for Mr. Wilson wraps up with Oliver’s believed killing” of him tonight.

I know I am in the minority here, but I wouldn’t mind if the island story wrapped up altogether. At the start of the show, the island scenes were some of the most interesting things happening but now, with Starling City as a fully developed playland of heroes and villains, seeing Ollie in a dirty shirt being petulant isn’t as much fun.

4. Some sort of connection to The Flash

The episodes of Arrow that introduced Barry Allen to the show were among my favorites this season, and I am very excited to not just watch, but also cover, The Flash next season. Hopefully, this episode gives viewers a reason to tune in, perhaps even showing off Barry with his new powers. Even if we get just some more nods towards his new status quo, or we see him awakening from his coma, something to get people excited for the show.

5. Closure For Oliver

This season has seen Ollie go through the ringer – his personal life has been destroyed, his city has been Deathstroke’d back to the stone age, and his confidence in his abilities is at its nadir. And while I understand that happy go lucky Ollie doesn’t work as well as broody Ollie, it would be very nice to see him in a state other than devastated for a good chunk of next season.

So here is what I want to see: let him win. Let him walk away with his head held high; season 3 is more interesting if the Arrow continues to gain public support and confidence in his ability, so let’s start on that path tomorrow night.

Take us home, Arrow!
